How Does Electrolysis Work?

To understand how electrolysis works, it is important to know what it is that electrolysis does. Electrolysis isn't a surface removal technique like shaving. How electrolysis procedure does its work is by destroying the roots of unwanted hairs with an electric current. The end result is that the unwanted hairs don't grow back.

There are a number of different methods for electrolysis for permanent hair removal, and each one functions in a different manner. The best way to understand how electrolysis does its work is to become aware of how the different types of electrolysis work. Three of the most common types of electrolysis are the Galvanic, thermolysis, and blend methods.

How Does Galvanic Electrolysis Work?

Galvanic electrolysis involves sending a DC current of electricity directly to the root of an unwanted hair via a needle that is inserted into the follicle of the affected hair. As the DC current travels through the follicle, a chemical reaction occurs. This chemical reaction produces sodium hydroxide, which destroys the hair follicle itself.

Prevent Breakouts With Acne Skin Care

Skin breakouts are very annoying to deal with. Sometimes, they can even be hard to avoid especially if the skin is just prone to such. However, you must never lose hope when it comes to acne skin care because there are actually a lot of ways to get rid of these unpleasant spots.

If you currently have a zit on your face and think there is not much you can do, don't lose hope because there's a lot you can do!

There are a lot of remedies available to help you get rid of that acne in a short time. The most preferred way for acne skin care is to apply benzoyl peroxide on the affected area. Since this chemical is known to oxygenate the skin, there is now no room for your acne to grow further. There are certain side effects to this chemical though, such as experiencing dry and flaky skin. To avoid such side effects, make sure to apply moisturizer on your skin. This would also help the skin to absorb the chemical efficiently.

To help prevent future breakouts, you must also maintain an acne skin care regimen which you have to regularly follow.

Transdermal Electrolysis: Painless Alternative to Needle Electrolysis

Many people who would love to enjoy the benefits of permanent hair removal resulting from electrolysis avoid seeking help getting rid of unsightly and unwanted hair because of their fear of needles. Electrolysis treatments have a reputation for being very tedious and painful. Many people choose just to deal with the constant struggle of coping with unwanted hair instead of seeking electrolysis treatments.

Traditional electrolysis does require inserting a needle-like probe into the follicle of every single hair that the client wants to destroy. This certainly does not sound like a pleasant option for hair removal. It's easy to see why people who hate needles would shy away from seeking traditional electrolysis treatments to take care of their hair removal needs.

However, transdermal electrolysis is a newer technology for electrolysis that doesn't require the use of a needle. The increasing popularity and availability of transdermal electrolysis is great news for the large numbers of people who want to permanently remove unwanted hair, but just can't stand the thought of having needles inserted into their hair follicles.

Skin Care: Caring for your Skin in Cold Weather

When temperatures drop it is time to think of how cold weather, chilling winds and dry air will affect your skin. We naturally think of bundling up during those frosty months but there are a few other considerations.

1. Keep your face protected by using heavier moisturizers, especially if you have dry skin. Always wear foundation when weathering the cold - give your face that extra protection. Don't forget the rest of your skin and use body washes instead of harsh soaps. Use lukewarm water and keep hot water off your face and body - it's drying in the best of times. Apply moisturizer after showering, while you skin is still damp.

2. During the winter the UV rays reflecting off the snow have an added ability to damage your skin. While skiing, snowboarding or enjoying any outdoor sports remember to wear a SPF of 15 or more. Don't forget that UV rays can harm your eyes as well, so keep them protected with sunglasses.

3. Keep your hands dry and warm during the winter months by always wearing gloves and keep moisturizer close at all times and reapply often.

Electrolysis Redox Made Simple

The term electrolysis redox refers to the chemical reactions that occur when electrons are exchanged. Electrolysis redox involves matching an electron accepted via reduction with one that is donated via oxidation. There are many different types of electrolysis redox reactions. One such reaction is a synthesis reaction involving an exchange of electrons that results in the creation of an ionic bond.

Different Examples of Electrolysis Redox

One illustration of electrolysis redox occurs when the incorporation of a single element into a compound results in another single element being released from the compound as a free element.

This also holds true for double replacement of elements within a compound, as opposed to the described single element reaction. Additionally, when a compound is divided into elements as a result of decomposition, the reaction is an example of electrolysis redox. The electrolysis of water is also an example of electrolysis redox.

What Should I Expect for an Average Cost for Electrolysis

The average hourly cost for electrolysis treatments administered by a qualified skin care professional is approximately $70 per hour. However, it is difficult to pinpoint an overall average cost for electrolysis. The length of time needed to complete successful electrolysis treatments can vary significantly as a result of a number of different factors.

For example, the time required to remove a large amount of back hair will likely be significantly more than the time required to treat an eyebrow area. Therefore, the size of the area to be treated and the density of unwanted hair in the affected area have an impact on the average cost for electrolysis. Other than the quantity of hair being removed, other factors impacting the average cost for electrolysis include both the age of the patient and the type of electrolysis process and equipment used for your procedure.

In order to give you an idea of the average cost for electrolysis treatments to take care of your particular needs for permanent hair removal, your skin care professional will need to evaluate your skin type and hair follicles, and then discuss with you're your particular goals for hair removal. With this information, the skin care professional can provide you with a fairly accurate estimate of the time involved, which can be translated in to an estimated average cost for electrolysis for your particular situation.
